Solomon Hutchins

On Jun 26, 2024 I drove to the campus UMD for the Campus when I arrived I was introduced to the other interns most of whom I have met via zoom connections but the in person introduction helped me to better connect with my fellow interns.

During our tour we had all gone to the leadership trainer we were doing an activity with Professor Myles. We were doing an exercise on what makes a leader. My response was that a leader must have responsibility, patience, understanding the ability to listen to your team and to adapt.

We had learned a better understanding of what kind of leader we were or wanted to be and what ideals in a leader we should keep or what was important for us to gain and or polish.

Determination. I need to decide my actions with certainty, research patience and if I'm wrong I need to accept that I made a mistake and learn from it to prevent it in the future. 

Improvement to keep striving to improve myself weather I'm failing I must improve or weather I'm succeeding  there's always room to improve  

Creativity I need to nourish my creativity to help benefit my future as well as others new ideas is what helped me and others strive so far this is what I believe is what a future leader should strive to have.

During the trip we also visited the green house. We had seen so many plant varieties and chambers where they housed corn and wheat in controlled environments. 

After we visiting the green house we visited the insect zoo where we learned about a variety of insects even being able to hold. 

On day 2 Jun 27, 2024 we went to a secondary leadership activity with professor Antonio where we learned more about networking tips and leadership types, their importance and how some are better suited for certain situations. Including transformational being able to adapt 

In situations or to the needs of your needs as well as your team's communication talking to everyone hearing points of views. And a type of leading where you place all your trust in someone and how all leadership rolls are situational. During this experience I have learned a lot and met new people especially near the end where we had the opportunity to communicate with other mentors.
